I live in a rural part of Lancashire known as the ’Ribble Valley’, not far from the historic market town of Clitheroe. My village, Whalley, is quite small but boasts the ruins of a 14th
century Cistercian Abbey set on the banks of
the River Calder. It's an ideal place for a
picnic on a summers day; there's a visitor
centre, gift shop and tea rooms. The adjacent
medieval church has 3 Celtic Scandinavian
crosses in its churchyard dating back to the
9th and 11th centuries and is well worth a
visit. A 10 minute car drive takes you to the
wilds of Pendle Hill, renowned for the
'witches' who became the most famous
witches in England. In the year 1612, at
Lancaster gaol, 10 men and women were hanged for the crime of witchcraft. The Pendle Witches, as they became known, were believed to be responsible for the murder, by witchcraft, of 17 people in and around the forest of Pendle.
Before moving to Whalley in 2002, I spent my early life in Burnley and later lived in various locations within east Lancashire. I enjoy the rural lifestyle and the slower pace of life associated with it.
Hello, I’m Diane Riley and I've owned Weimaraners for about 13 years. During the early years of ownership I had two bitches, Sally and Chloe, mother and daughter but sadly, they are no longer with me. Today I own Sally's granddaughter and Chloe's daughter; Lola, Lass o'th' Pendlehaze.
